PHOTOGRAPHY FOR DESIGN
Photography is an important part of the production of many different types of design projects in the creation of posters, editorial work, still life graphics, stop motion design, cinemagraphs, and other photographic work. Designers who are familiar with setting up shots and taking pictures are more prepared for the diverse types of techniques they will be required to employ in the field. The Photography for Design course introduces students to a graphic aesthetic when capturing images and constructing compositions.
Students worked in groups and collaborated with two local jewelry designers, Anna Quinn + Destiny Toro to photograph and visually present their jewelry. The students were instructed to produce product images using just lighting elements as well as incorporating props, while composing their still-lifes in a graphic aesthetic, appropriate for commercial distribution.
