Conservation For Our Future
Emma Harlan
The Pontchartrain Conservancy is doing work all across Louisiana to conserve our coast and this work has a direct impact on Louisiana residents. Unfortunately, there is a lack of engagement from Louisiana residents with the Pontchartrain Conservancy. The conservancy has an abundance of information in their museum but with large blocks of text and simple visuals they have a hard time capturing and maintaining the attention of visitors.
My design offers an attention grabbing exhibit that then engages children and their families. The tree that my digital display is mounted on serves multiple purposes but a large one is to draw the attention of visitors. Once museum goers are interacting with my exhibit, my digital display offers an interactive educational experience. This includes an interactive educational mini-game, motion graphics that demonstrate what is happening to the Louisiana coast, and fun and educational visuals to accompany the information as the viewer learns.
The work the Pontchartrain Conservancy is doing directly impacts the residents of Louisiana by keeping them safe from storms. It is important that the people of Louisiana know this because without their support the Pontchartrain Conservancy can’t continue to do the work they do.
