Stage Door: An Interactive Educational Touchscreen on Theatrical Production
emma lucas
Stage Door is an interactive educational touchscreen designed for Theatre Arts & Dance to make live theatre more accessible to non-theatre audiences. Many visitors feel disconnected from performances because they don’t understand the creative process, which limits engagement with productions at Loyola.
The solution is a hands-on kiosk that lets users explore each role in a theatre production, such as director, actor, costume designer, and stage manager, through simple, exploratory interactions. By revealing how a show is built from the inside out, it builds confidence, increases interest, and encourages audiences to attend live performances.
UX DESIGN PRACTICUM
Project 1: Great Ideas Exhibit
Brief: Build an interactive companion for the Great Ideas Loyno exhibit, allowing users to view more information about pieces in the show and extending the exhibition’s impact beyond the gallery.
Solution: This app allows users to easily access information about the posters from anywhere through a QR code. Posters' pages contain extra information and context about their design and designer.
Project 2: Niche Website
Brief: A website for a student-run boutique that blends handmade aesthetics with a trustworthy shopping experience to connect campus makers with buyers.
Solution: To create a cohesive e-commerce experience that showcases Niche products while highlighting the makers behind them through a unified brand.
