Stage Door: An Interactive Educational Touchscreen on Theatrical Production

emma lucas

Non-theatre audiences often overlook or feel disconnected from live productions due to a lack of engaging, accessible insight into the creative process, limiting interest, attendance, and overall engagement with the theatre department. This project is an interactive touchscreen kiosk designed to bridge that gap by introducing users to key theatrical roles including the actor, director, stage manager, and costume designer, through guided activities and immersive touchpoints. The experience is intuitive and approachable, allowing users of any familiarity level to explore how a production comes together behind the scenes. It also integrates a ticket purchasing feature for current shows, encouraging immediate action. By making theatre more transparent and interactive, this project fosters curiosity, increases accessibility, and strengthens connections between audiences and the performing arts.
