Sana

Gaby Vargas

Sana: a universal decompression space is a campus-wide identity system designed to provide an accessible, low-pressure environment for moments of overwhelm. It creates a recognizable way for students and faculty to pause and regulate in everyday campus settings.

The system uses a calm, minimal, Japanese-inspired visual language with first-person messaging to signal safety and ease. Supported by a style guide and simple printed materials, sana can be adapted across campus to offer consistent opportunities for decompression.

PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE COURSE

Project 1: Lore Network Branding

Brief: Design a fictional network from the ground up, using a strong central concept to drive a cohesive, multi-platform design system tailored to diverse audiences.

My Solution: A nostalgic network identity built around warmth, familiarity, and motion. It blends retro-inspired textures, typography, and animation with contemporary designs.

Project 2: Recruitment Campaign

Brief: Develop a recruitment campaign for Loyola’s Design Department that encourages prospective students to apply through compelling, experience-driven content.

My Solution: Through tactile materials, intentional language, and cohesive visuals, it invited prospective students to see themselves within the program while staying connected to their identity and personal experiences.

Project 3: Personal Branding

Brief: Design a distinctive personal brand through web portfolio design, business card, resume, and a visual identity system that communicates your creative voice as a storyteller and maker.

My Solution: Reflect my approach to design through black and white framework, allowing the work itself to become the color. Centered around the seagull as a personal and recurring figure, the system uses motion, typography and form to express my voice across print and digital applications.
