Design at Loyola University New Orleans

Shae Schouest

Design at Loyola University New Orleans is a promotional video that helps prospective students better understand what design actually is. Many high school students interested in creativity struggle to define design or see how their interests connect to a formal discipline, leaving the department’s scope and possibilities unclear.

This solution uses a personal narrative of discovering design to translate those everyday creative instincts into something relatable and recognizable. By connecting curiosity, experimentation, and organization to the department’s offerings, the video introduces design in an accessible, engaging way that helps students see themselves within the field.

UX DESIGN PRACTICUM

Project 1: Great Ideas Exhibit

Brief: Build an interactive companion for the Great Ideas Loyno exhibit allowing users to view more information about pieces in the show and extending the exhibition’s impact beyond the gallery.

Solution: This app allows users to easily access information about the posters from anywhere through a QR code. Posters' pages contain extra information and context about their design and designer.

Project 2: Student Peace Conference Website Design

Brief: Design a new web experience for the Student Peace Initiative (SPI) that informs the target audience about the organization’s work, highlights their major yearly events, and

encourages them to submit abstracts to present at the Peace Conference.

Solution: Use my own photography from past SPI events to capture the tight-knit community they've built, through an editorial and user-friendly approach.
